Active, straightforward counseling for high-achieving individuals, couples, and families.

Stop Managing the Stress. Start Mastering the Transition.

With over 20 years of experience, I help you move from feeling stuck to becoming strategic in your personal and professional life.

Why You're Here

Maybe you have been struggling with anxiety for a long time and you have had enough.

Perhaps you are navigating through a particularly challenging phase in your life, feeling overwhelmed and uncertain about the decisions that lie ahead. Maybe you have told yourself that you should be able to manage this on your own, but despite your efforts, the weight of your worries continues to hold you back, leaving you searching for clarity and support.

I can help.

I specialize in working with high-achieving individuals—often men—who are navigating life transitions that create feelings of anxiety, overwhelm or uncertainty. This could be triggered by a job change, a change in a relationship, or a difficult personal decision that feels hard to navigate.

MY Areas of Focus & Clinical Approach

Transformative Counseling

My clinical expertise includes treating anxiety, stress and feeling stuck – each of which can contribute to physical pain, impaired sleep, intimacy issues, substance use, anger outbursts and/or lower self-confidence.

I also work with couples and families. I facilitates difficult conversations by asking direct and challenging questions which is solely aimed at helping partners improve communication, rebuild trust, and deepen emotional connection with one another. I consistently pushes clients to realize – and then vocalize – their underlying message to their partner so that communication can be rebuilt.

What do you want?

Patience? Emotional flexibility? Happiness? Kindness? Stronger Ego? What is holding you back? What do you visualize when you think of this change?

You are here because you are ready to make a change. Take a different step. Create a different path. Your stress level is too high, you don’t like who you are in a relationship, your anxiety inhibits you from enjoyment, you are tired of faking to the world on the outside who you are, when in fact you feel differently. But you are unsure of where to start and how to start. Just by coming to this site, you are starting.

Therapy is effective when it is challenging. If you are looking for a passive therapist that only reflects and validates your responses, I am not a good fit. If you are wanting strong theoretical orientation only, then I am not a good fit.

My style? I call it like I see it.

I give you my impressions, my considerations. I challenge you both in -session and in the assignments, I ask you to complete. My 20 years- experience, 15 years of being a consultant to other therapists, working with thousands of clients and having a strong knowledge in theory is coupled with bringing levity, sensitivity and a commitment to a desire to improve my own lived experience.

Here is one of the biggest compliments I hear from clients:
“This is hard. It is helpful, but it is hard.”

What You Might Be Struggling With

If you find yourself struggling with any of the issues below or a myriad of others including (but not limited to): anxiety, perfectionism, social anxiety, panic attacks, life adjustments/transitions, grief and loss, irritability, anger, stress and feeling overwhelmed, burn out, substance abuse, feeling stuck, feeling sad, interrupted sleep, relationship strain, imposter syndrome, or low self esteem, you’ve come to the right place for help.

Anxiety

Anxiety keeps us safe. Anxiety keeps us comfortable. But when our minds and bodies over-rely on anxiety, then situations become overwhelming. Intrusive thoughts take over. Negative beliefs surge. And coping mechanisms – though helpful in the moment – create a sense of failure.

Sadness/Depression

Grief and loss can take many forms—whether through the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or the loss of a job or role that once felt central to your life. Grief is the body, mind, and heart’s natural way of healing, yet the process can feel incredibly challenging.

Grief & Loss

Grief and loss can take many forms—whether through the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or the loss of a job or role that once felt central to your life. Grief is the body, mind, and heart’s natural way of healing, yet the process can feel incredibly challenging.

Relationship Counseling

Relationships can bring us overwhelming joy, love and happiness. But they can also bring us pain, open up old wounds and cause intense feelings of anger, frustration and resentment. The emotions we experience are complicated and confusing.

life adjustments

Life doesn’t always change gradually. Sometimes it shifts all at once—through a new job, a relationship change, becoming a parent, a move, a loss, or a decision that would be difficult to reverse. Even changes that are wanted or positive can put you on shaky ground.

It takes confidence to acknowledge you need support. And courage to make this feeling an action.

Stop trying to figure this out on your own. You have been suffering too long and you don’t have the answers.

I DO.

Meet Justin Tobin

What My Clients Say

“The logical discussions, the insight into why I do things the way I do them, and the homework all helped me focus on what was going on in my life at the time.”
“My therapist provided tremendous guidance to us as we navigated some very difficult events and situations that were thrown at us during our first years of marriage. No matter how we came into it, we always left feeling as if both of us were adequately heard, yet came away with a better understanding of each other’s feelings.”

-MK & EK

“I had never been to therapy before and did not know what to expect. Although it was much more difficult then I anticipated, it was very helpful. My therapist did a great job of making me feel comfortable, trusted, and heard.”
I like how collaborative the process has been, and that Justin took the time to pair me with the right counselor with a compatible therapy technique that would help me achieve my goals. Deborah has been great, and I already feel like I’m making meaningful progress and adjustments after just a few sessions.
