Counseling for Individuals

I understand that understanding and processing emotions is a journey unique to each individual, often intertwined with our personal histories and life experiences.

Counseling for Individuals

Being human means having emotions. We all experience them—even when we try not to. Stress, overwhelm, anger, guilt, shame, and frustration are part of life. While many of us work hard to push these feelings away or power through them, emotions themselves aren’t the problem. In fact, feeling them is healthy.

Difficulties arise when emotions become intense, constant, or overwhelming. Negative thoughts can start to take over, shaping behaviors that feel out of alignment with who you are or how you want to live. You might notice physical signs too: frequent headaches, trouble falling or staying asleep, waking earlier than intended, or a constant tightness in your stomach. These are not random symptoms; they’re your body responding to emotional overload.

Over time, this can affect your work or school performance, strain relationships, and leave you feeling irritable, on edge, or emotionally exhausted. As this cycle continues, life may begin to feel out of control. Like you’re always one step away from breaking.

When emotions are fueled by persistent negative thinking, behaviors often follow—isolating or withdrawing from others, procrastinating, turning to substances, or feeling stuck in inaction.

When was the last time you felt truly settled and at peace—not just for a fleeting moment, but in a way that lasted?

Here is where I can help.

Somewhere you lost touch of your goals and maybe even your personal values. Individual counseling helps you make changes not just day- to- day, but find the motivation and keep the momentum to get back on track. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), this theory looks at patterns in thoughts and behaviors that may be increasing stress or feeling overwhelmed, and we develop practical ways to create new behaviors. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps you to sit (almost embrace) with difficult while reconnecting with what matters most to you. Mindfulness-based approaches is used to help you to stay present and grounded, working to reduce intense emotions and instead bring more calm. I use Solution-Focused Therapy to focus on your strengths and to set goals – realistic and measurable steps to move forward.

Anyone can talk theory and use clinical jargon. Read more about my style and approach tos see if I match up with what you are looking for.
