What happens during the initial appointment?
I begin by learning what you want to work on and what might be holding you back. Together, we look at the patterns and beliefs that affect your thoughts, actions, and motivation.
At the end of the session, I share my impressions and outline a simple plan, including next steps and an estimate of how long therapy may take.
How much does it cost?
I am out-of-network with health insurance. You can find session fees here along with questions to ask your insurance company about potential reimbursement.
I provide a Superbill that you can submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement. Most insurance plans cover out-of-network services and provide instructions for submitting claims. I also provide resources to assist with this process if needed. Click here to learn more about what you should ask your insurance company prior to coming in for your Initial Appointment.
Can I talk on the phone/video prior to our first appointment?
Yes. I offer a free consultation prior to our first meeting. It gives us both an opportunity to see if we may be a good fit for one another – I want to hear about why you are starting therapy and what you hope to gain from it and you are likely interested in hearing about my experience with your issues and goals, my approach to these issues and what a typical session may look like. But, feel free to ask me anything.
Why would I work with a therapist that does not take insurance?
Being out network, the focus of therapy stays where it belongs - on you, your growth, and making change. When cost isn’t the limiting factor, you’re free to choose a therapist based on true fit and expertise, allowing the work to go deeper without outside constraints shaping the process.
Working with an out-of-network therapist gives you greater privacy, flexibility, and freedom in your care. Insurance companies require a diagnosis, detailed documentation, and at times, can limit the number of sessions and length of sessions.
Do you meet with clients for video therapy?
Yes, I meet with clients exclusively through secure video. Once your appointment is scheduled, you’ll receive a dedicated link that only you can access.
Is video therapy as effective as face to face?
Video therapy has been used since the early 1990s and recent research shows it is just as effective as in-person therapy. It became more widely adopted during the COVID-19 pandemic, offering the same benefits with added convenience and flexibility.
